Colombia is located at the top end of South America and is bordered by Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru.
The country has been ravished by a decades long struggle between communist guerilla groups and the Colombian government. However, in recent years it has made great strides toward peace and is wide open to missionaries and the gospel.
The land of Colombia is vast and rich in it’s natural beauty and diversity of climates and terrain—yet it remains a country that is dark spiritually. Approximately 90% of Colombia’s population profess Roman Catholocism as their religion while much of the remaining population are made up of a many people who follow cults, prosperity gospel, and charismatic influences. Only a small percentage of Colombians truly know the gospel and attend solid Bible preaching churches.
Much of the the last 40 years of mission work has been done in the larger cities due to the violence and threat of kidnapping, extortion, and murder. Hundreds of smaller cities, villages, and towns have yet to hear the preaching of the gospel and many do not have a Bible preaching church within reach of their people.
The harvest in Colombia truly is plenteous but the laborers few. Would you pray with us that God would send many more laborers to work in this part of His harvest!
